Bergamot essential oil (BEO) is the result of mechanical manipulation (cold pressing) exocarp (flavedo) hesperidium Citruslimon (L.) Osbeck Group (synonym Citrus × bergamia Risso & Poit.), resulting in bursting cavities embedded flavedo and release their contents. It chemically dominated by monoterpene hydrocarbons (i.e., limonene), but with significant percentages oxygenated monoterpenes linalyl acetate) non-volatile oxygen heterocyclic compounds bergapten).
